Celebrating our team: Monique Williams-McCoy

Monique Williams-McCoy has been with Local Matters since 2008. These are her words:

Monique%20McCoy%20(1).png

“Food is very personal for each person I come into contact with. The most important room in my home is the kitchen. I love to create with foods like an artist loves to paint. My family origins are from North Carolina where my siblings and I worked on our grandparents’ farm farming tobacco. We had a huge garden and a strong family connection - it was our way of life. I learned how to be self-sufficient and have a great work ethic. Having those skills motivates me to share what knowledge I have with others.

Working in our communities with our partners at Local Matters gives me an opportunity to be creative and share the wisdom I have come across in my life. When I started at Local Matters, we were working on a pilot program that has grown into something much more. The people that I have met along this journey have been some of the very best people who are passionate about making the world a better place. This is a blessing in itself. To know that each day you can impact someone's life in a positive or negative way is your choice, your choice is also the seed that you sow for a harvest you will reap choose wisely. Being able to serve others is always time well spent in any capacity and working at Local Matters allows me to do this each and every day.”

Thank you, Monique, for all you do for Local Matters and the Columbus community!
